Maria and Arnold: Entitled Elitests?

The Governor and First Lady of California may have been pulling the wool over our eyes for decades. How much they care for the Common Man and Woman! How much energy and time they have poured into charitable causes for those less fortunate! Under all those wealthy trappings, what populists they are! Or what hypocrites?
Don't misunderstand me - they have both done tremendous good ... but has it all been image building?
You are photographed breaking a California law that prohibits using a hand held cell phone while driving. The purpose of this law is to prevent car crashes and deaths. You pound your chest and cry "Mea culpa!" Then you immediately get caught doing exactly the same thing again and you just happen to live in California's Governor's Masion. Hmmm.
And how about that red zone illegal parking thing? Wouldn't I love to take advantage of THAT every time I drive? Wouldn't YOU? And just throw all resulting tickets in the recycle bin! Maria and Arnold are behaving as though they THINK they are above the law. Remember what the Good Book says, "As a man thinketh, so is he." I can hear you remonstrating with me now about the picayune nature of these transgressions. And admittedly they ARE details. But God is in the details, isn't She?

No POTUS for Palin

Sarah Palin is going to be filthy rich, wealthy as sin, flush with the green, a minting machine. Good for her!!! She is savvy enough to have already realized that Media Darlings rake it in alarmingly faster than mere state governors.
While her charisma is undeniable, her memoir is unreliable – at least according to her former co-losing running mate, Sen. John McCain, and his minions. With such a compelling story to tell, it’s too bad she felt she had to LIE about what really happened.
She could well be The Candidate of the GOP (whose sane and pragmatic centrists will have been out fear mongered and out shouted by the Right, the Far Right and the Far Far Right) in 2012 and again in 2016. Her exalted position will have been set in stone by her uncanny ability to drive energy, volunteer hours and umpteen millions of dollars to her chosen candidates in 2010 and beyond. This could render Reasonable Republicans as endangered as the lowland gorilla.
But with all her Electricity, she will NEVER be elected POTUS. Not in 2012 or 2016 or even 3016, should she live that long. As Anita Loos once observed about Los Angeles, “There’s no There there.”
Simply put, one George W. Bush was more than enough.

Sen. Coburn betrays American military

Sen. Tom Coburn is betraying American military forces currently dying and suffering in Iraq and Afghanistan.For some reason, he easily and readily votes to send our brave men and women into harm's way. But if they are lucky enough to come back, they will see no assistance from him. He is personally holding up a bill that would shoulder some of the burden of recovery from profound physical and emotional injuries.
Did he ever serve in a war? In the military? Doesn't he care about these brave sacrifices made every day, every hour while he sits comfortably in D.C. enjoying the privileges won for him by the blood of Americans past?
Apparently not.

His flip flop on health care - after his promise to reform same during his last SUCCESSFUL campaign - shows his lack of juevos in standing up to BIG HEALTH - how much DOES his wife make from them each year???? How much DO they contribute to his campaign??
According to recent polls, his CONSTITUENTS overwhelmingly favor health care reform.
They apparently don't matter.

Treatment of American veterans a disgrace

Today is Veteran's Day. It's a 24 hour period when all of us can reflect on the sacrifices that have been made on our behalf. It's unfortunate that people like you and me have a much greater regard for those men and women currently serving and those who served in the past than our lawmakers.
Is it true that the average income of a returning vet is under $22,000 a year? What is the number of female veterans that have been sexually assaulted by their fellow military men? At least with "friendly fire" someone actually investigates.
Is it true that a preponderance of the homeless in America are veterans?
How many returning sailors, soldiers, marines, airmen receive adequate treatment for Post Traumatic Stress? And finally, why are the Pentagon's statistics on these issues so much lower than those found by Independent organizations?
It's time for American leaders to stop giving lip service to military service and put their money where their empty rhetoric is.

Conservatives to control every American uterus?

The most recent health care tempest centers around conservatives who appear to want to control every American woman's uterus. I feel sorry for American women if these idiots get their way.
In case these legislators haven't noticed, ABORTION is legal here in America!!!! It has been for decades. Sometimes it's a matter of life and death for a woman to have access to this always gut-wrenching choice. The way this law is written now, the women most at risk, the poorest, most defensless women, the women without a support system, without family or friends, will be the most devastated - the most adversely affected.
Why is it that American lawmakers don't trust women to make appropriate MORAL choices with their own wombs?

Veep Cheney may have dementia

Isn't it a crying shame that Dick Cheney seems to have contracted Alzheimers? One can only hope it is in the early stages when the proper medicine can still help (at least he can afford the dosage unlike most Americans) no wonder his daughter is so often speaking in his place, he's forgetting everything ... appointments, people, his own handwriting, the location of WMD in Iraq, acts of treason against CIA operatives ... pray for the poor man.
